RLI's New Solid Waste Handling
Permit Gives Waste Generators a Better Option for Nonhaz Bulk Liquid and
Powder Disposal
SAVANNAH, GA (08/21/06) -- The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR) made it easier for companies to dispose of nonhazardous bulk liquids and powders on June 20, when the agency issued a new Solid Waste Handling permit to the Return Logistics International Corporation Central Returns and Waste Processing Center in Savannah. "Our new permit enables RLI to provide manufacturing plants, manufacturers' distribution centers, chain store distribution centers, third-party logistics providers, and other generators of nonhazardous bulk liquid and powders with an outlet that can blend materials that do not meet state requirements for disposal as a solid waste and need to be solidified, as well as those that prefer to recycle their liquid and powder waste into energy," said RLI President and CEO Brian Stenz. "The permit makes RLI the only service provider in the country that can integrate a large Fortune 500 company's returns and reject waste under one roof. This allows RLI to protect the reverse supply chain by tracking and tracing the collection and consolidation of materials. In addition, RLI maximizes recycling revenues and lowers transportation and disposal cost." The new permit significantly expands the number of waste streams that RLI's Savannah Central Returns and Waste Processing Center can accept. The center, which recently completed a $1.5 million expansion that enlarged the facility to 32,000 square feet, celebrates its 10th year for processing pharmaceutical and personal care manufacturers' returns and wastes. In addition, RLI has pioneered advanced reverse logistics technology through the years. In 2004, the company was assigned U.S. Patent No. 6,754,637 for all claims related to "A Method and Apparatus to Manage Network Based Returns Processing." This patented system integrates the most essential elements of a successful returns processing and disposal program by combining RLI's proven return logistics methodology with advanced information management and Internet technology. Specifically, the system addresses manufacturing traceability, supply chain visibility, warehouse management, anti-counterfeiting, freight transportation, rejection management, waste management, shipment visibility, reconciliation, exception reporting, product data, credit issuance, and other key considerations to help manufacturers, retail chains, and wholesalers drive down costs and increase profits. RLI will auction off its patent at the Ocean Tomo Fall 2006 Live Intellectual Property Auction on October 26, 2006. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) specialists will have a superb opportunity to see the extent of RLI's capabilities for themselves in late October. The Central Returns and Waste Processing Center in Savannah will host an open house for returns and waste managers October 24, just prior to the 14th Annual National Association for Environmental Management (NAEM) EHS Management Forum in Savannah October 25-27. "We look forward to showing NAEM members how RLI can make their jobs easier when they join us for our October 24 Open House," Stenz said. Return Logistics International Corporation (RLI) has extensive experience as a full-service supply chain protection vendor that provides waste disposal and credits processing for over-the-counter and ethical products, including hazardous materials and all classes of controlled substances. RLI has a track record in processing manufacturer returns for credit in a timely and cost-effective manner. |
